Every year from late March through mid-April, Cherry Blossoms surround the Washington D.C. Tidal Basin. To celebrate the friendship between the US and Japan, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is held to during the peak bloom of Cherry Blossoms with arts, culture, natural beauty and community.

Titans 4 Making a Difference
Titans 4 Scholars (T4S) is a student-run organization of 12 juniors who create fundraisers to raise money to ensure that each ACHS student, regardless of socioeconomic background, has the opportunity to attend college. The program runs for seven weeks and plans to raise $12,000 for an ACHS student to attend all four years of college.

Inside the WorkKeys Exam, an Alternative to the Writing SOL
The Writing Standards of Learning (SOL) test is a standardized exam completed by 11th grade students in Virginia to provide a “verified” credit (for graduation requirements) and reflect the degree to which teachers are effectively instructing their students. However, the ACT WorkKeys is a valid replacement for the Writing SOL and is not widely known.

8 Students Recognized for National Merit Scholarship Accomplishments
Seven Commended Students and one Semifinalist were recognized with a ceremony on October 1 for their exceptional scores in the PSAT 10/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), which they took last fall in their junior year along with students across the country.

Free Lunch Program Disbanded
As the COVID-19 pandemic has somewhat subsided, ACHS's free lunch program has ended. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) disbanded the coronavirus relief program in which people ages 2-18 were able to receive free lunch nationally.
