I check the clock. 1:44. Ugh.
Please let me go to the bathroom, I think to myself. It’s one minute before the 10-minute mark.
I raise my hand, but Mrs. Lubricant is looking down at her computer. I stare at the clock, watching as the minute hand ever so slowly moves from number to number. “Can I use the bathroom?”
Mrs. Lubricant looks up from her computer screen and checks the clock.
In the most monotone tone, she says, “No leaving class ten minutes before the bell.” I sigh, stuck staring at the clock’s hands again. Ten whole minutes until the passing period. I sit there in silence.
*Ding Ding*
“Finally!” Skips-a-lot, my seat partner, exclaims.
I skip down the hall to the nearest bathroom on the A-side of the second floor. But the bathroom is locked. Oh, what a lovely surprise! The sign reads, “Bathroom is closed. Go to A2…”
“How would I know where these bathrooms are..?” my friend Nic Breath mutters next to me.
I walk toward the opposite end of the hall to see if there are any bathrooms near my next class. Closed again. Yay! Another surprise! I didn’t know it was my birthday already. Thank you, ACHS!
I end up walking up a flight of stairs on the third floor of the C-side. At this point, I consider happily peeing on the floor. While I walk down the hall, I feel as if I have entered a haze. I see a teacher, a pregnant woman, walk out of a classroom and dash to the bathroom I am approaching.
“WHAT THE… It was OPEN last week!” I hear her shout.
Once again, we have another pregnant lady scavenging for an open bathroom.
I see her hold her stomach and flop through the hall to complain to two security guards.
“I don’t want to sound like I am asking for access to a human need, but if you could be so kind as to open this bathroom, it would be greatly appreciated,” the Pregnant Lady says. The security guards whisper to each other.
“What do I get out of it?” Security Guard 1 asks.
“My pee off the ground,” Pregnant Lady says defiantly, staring them in the eyes.
I follow them to the bathroom and watch the security guards walk away so the Pregnant Lady can go to the bathroom in peace. The forbidden gate has been unlocked.
