Watching the National Football League is a popular pastime all over America, and Alexandria City High School is no exception. With many teams to choose from, here are some of the teams that are people’s favorites here at ACHS.
The two most popular teams at ACHS are the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, with the Baltimore Ravens coming in third.
For many students at ACHS, family history comes into play when naming their favorite team.
“My dad grew up in Cincinnati,” said sophomore Andy Matthews, a Cincinnati Bengals fan. “I have been surrounded by that type of atmosphere my whole life.”
This is also the case for junior Brett Miller who is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Philadelphia is where my Dad’s from, and I’ve liked them ever since I was little,” said Miller.
Sophomore Jack Monaghan is a Baltimore Ravens fan because that is where he grew up. “I grew up there until I moved here, and I’ve just always been a fan.”
Location doesn’t always match up with football team association, however. Sophomore Zachary Kenney is a Baltimore Ravens fan, despite being from Texas. He started liking them when he was little because his Little League football team was named after the Ravens, and he’s been a fan of them ever since.
Oftentimes, many students like a team purely because of certain players. Junior Khalil Hurrey is a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles because of its quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
“He’s a good quarterback. Best quarterback of all time for the Eagles,” he said.
But there isn’t always a reason for a fascination with a certain team. Sophomore Isaiah Adonijah, a Dallas Cowboys fan, is an example of this, “I don’t know,” he said. “I’ve just been liking them since I was a kid.”
