Every year, ACHS staff members nominate their peers in various categories for the ACPS VIP (Vision, Integrity & Passion) awards. Mario Yach, a member of ACHS custodian team, won the award under the Building Engineers category for his diligent work— work that has kept the King Street building running.

Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt, the Interim Superintendent, explained that any ACPS staff member can nominate a peer, and then those nominees proceed to the next round of judging. “We have a team that evaluates all of the nominees, and then they select based on the criteria that we have.”

Administrator Christopher Speich wrote the nomination request for Yach.

During the ceremony where Yach received the award, Dr. Kay-Wyatt read Speich’s nomination to all the staff members gathered in the main office: “Mr. Mario never complains: he just finds a way to get the job done.”

Mr. Yach received a gift and a certificate for his diligent work for the Titan community. At the end of the ceremony, Yach gave thanks for this surprise. “Thanks to [the] Titan Family!” he said. “I am feeling really good to be a part [of it].”
