Have you ever been interested in classmates’ favorite albums of the summer? ACHS students have a very diverse taste in music, ranging from heavy metal to pop. Here are their opinions on what their favorite albums of the summer are.

Sophomore Hugh Trigg said his album of the summer pick is Collide With The Sky by Piece the Veil. He explained that the album was “very loud and angry.” He mentioned how Pierce the Veil shifted the type of music he listened to. “Pierce the Veil is a band that mostly creates music incorporating post-hardcore and metalcore in their music,” Trigg said.

“Pierce the Veil has really cool guitar solos. The music is pretty loud and does not calm me down.” Trigg is really into hardcore and heavy metal music: loud and angry music.

Sophomore Julia Sayre chose her album of the summer to be Cry Baby by Melanie Martinez because she enjoys listening to Melanie’s songs over and over again. She raved about how much of a great performer she is and that she has an amazing aesthetic in all of her performances. Melanie Martinez is an artist that mostly creates music incorporating pop and electro-pop into her music.

“I call her music pastel horror because it’s this dark realism painted in this cheery lighthearted mood,” she said. Sayre enjoys listening to pop and electro-pop music, which can include some ballads.

Junior Camila Rivera Escalante chose her album of the summer to be Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny because his music gives off “summery vibes.” It reminds her of “the tropical islands of Puerto Rico” because the beat is very catchy and one that you could play at a pool party on a hot summer day. Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican rapper who incorporates Latin pop and reggaeton into his music.

“The album is a way of feeling a surreal moment,” she said. Camila loves Latino music and reggaeton; both remind her of “chilling in the Puerto Rican beaches and being at a Puerto Rican pool party,” Rivera Escalante said.
