Every year, thousands of schools across the country compete as ‘Science Olympiads,’ putting their knowledge and skills to the test as they formulate, create, and innovate a variety of devices within the field. With Science Olympiads on track to garner similar popularity to its Mathletes counterpart, Alexandria City High School has recently created its own division, ready to participate in all levels of competition.

Teachers are some of the hardest working members of society, so why are they underpaid? Forty Alexandria City High School teachers participated in a survey about teacher pay and side jobs, and the results were illuminating.

Titan Robotic to Worlds
Alexandria City High School’s Robotics team made it to the FIRST Robotics Championships in Houston, Texas. The team was founded in 2015, and this will be their second championship trip, their first being the 2019 World Championship in Detroit, Michigan, where they qualified by winning the Engineering Inspiration award.

Titan Debate Team Advances to Nationals
The Titan Debate Team for this year includes Francisca Pitterle, Kate Griffis, Sophia Bassingthwaite, Zion Foulcard, Madison Enow, Maryam Niazi, and Angelina Martinez. Francisca Pitterle and Sylvia Rahim make up the varsity policy debate team for the school and will be competing in the nationals competition to represent our school. The topic for policy debate for this year is the resolution that the United States federal government should substantially increase its protection of water resources.
