U.S. Botanical Gardens
For the 2019 holiday season, the U.S. Botanical Gardens have opened its “Seasons Greetings: America’s Gardens Exhibit.” It consists of botanical gardens from all 50 states. The exhibit will close on January 5, 2020. Learn more here.
National ZooLights
The National Zoo lights up the park with thousands of colorful christmas lights during the holiday season. You can see the lights every night from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm until Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Learn more at here.
National Christmas Tree
The 2019 National Christmas Tree can be found at Presidents Park in front of the White House on Pennsylvania Ave. The nation is celebrating its 97th year putting up the National Christmas Tree. The tree consists of “50,000 individual LED lights and approximately 450-star ornaments” and is lit every day from 4:30 pm to midnight. Learn more here.
National Chanukah Menorah
Found on the right of the National Christmas Tree is the National Menorah. The annual tree lighting ceremony starts on Sunday, December 22 – the evening Chanukah begins – from 3:15 pm to 5:45 pm. Learn more here.
Waterskiing Santa
A Christmas eve tradition, waterskiing Santa will ride on the Potomac River between Old Town, Alexandria and Washington D.C. on December 24. He can be spotted at 1:00 pm. Learn more here.
