Koko, The Dustbuster, Louie the Legend. All of these are names that people remember 86 year-old TC legend Louis Kokonis by in his 60 years of teaching math in ACPS, but now he’ll also be remembered for his new groundbreaking scholarship: The Louis Kokonis Teaching Legend Scholarship.

When Senior Dennis Mensah came to the United States at age 10, he barely spoke English. Now, eight years later, he is headed to James Madison University on a full scholarship to play Division 1 soccer.

Girls Basketball Wins Region Semifinals
The girls varsity basketball team beat W.T. Woodson in the Occoquan Regional Semifinals. The team will play Woodbridge Tuesday, February 26 at 7:00 at T.C.

Boys and Girls Basketball Advance to District Finals
The boys basketball team beat Hayfield 48-38 and the girls beat Annandale 68-50 in the district semifinals. The boys finals will be held on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 at West Potomac High School. The girls district finals will also be on February 15 at 5:30 at T.C. against West Potomac.

New Teacher: Taryn Edwards
The history department has added a few new faces this year. One being Taryn Edwards, who has had teaching experience and currently teaches on-level VA-US History and Psychology/Sociology. Edwards has spoken on the difficulties of adapting to the curriculum difference, although she attests the history department to an easy transition. With lighter student-per-class loads, Edwards continues to implement her addition online techniques, such as Nearpod, Edpuzzle, and ActivelyLearn to help her students.

New Year, New TC
“My resolution is to let go of toxic people...and then detox with some more water--let this acne go as well,” said senior Kayla Harley. With a new year comes new resolutions from T.C. students and predictions for the coming year. As seniors plan for college and their future, juniors dread college applications and SATs; as sophomores adjust to harder classes and the main campus, freshman are getting used to the high school experience; everyone has something to work on.
