Put Some Respect on Their Name
Why the Lady Titans Should Not Be Overlooked Hunter Langley Winning is the goal. In the last decade, the girls basketball team has done nothing but win. But even on their senior night, the girls drew less of a crowd than the boys team, who played across town and lost 63-49 to West Potomac. Despite the lack of support, the girls recorded a decisive 74-55 win over rival West Potomac for the final home regular season game. With a 66-13 record over the past three years the girls basketball team has been a special program, and one of the best at T.C. It is run by Gunston District Coach of…

How Not to Tackle Tardiness
On one morning in late January, students braved the frigid weather that had prompted a 2-hour delay to get to their classes. After parking in the Chinquapin circle, I walked alongside a group of students down the sidewalk, rushing our pace as the piercing and unmistakable warning bell sounded. However, this campaign is about more than pledging to stop the use of a single phrase or just one isolated day where you sign a banner and possibly sport a flimsy rubber bracelet. It is about striving for inclusion and equality for people with disabilities, and making sure that everyone is respected both in actions and in speech. Here is how TC can help achieve that mission and ensure that all people are respected at TC and in Alexandria…

A Look at the ‘Intellectual Blood Sport’ We the People
“It was one of our strongest finishes in a few years,” said Government teacher Ra Alim Shabazz, who coaches the T.C. seniors on the team. “It is an intense competition and I am immensely proud of what the students did. I believe that they all walked away from this feeling different.”
