ACPS Launches Award for Staff Who Help Our Division Run Smoothly

ACPS is launching a program to honor a support staff member of the year that will run alongside our teacher and principal of the year awards.

The Support Staff Member of the Year award will honor members of staff such as office staff, cafeteria workers, paraprofessionals, school nurses, librarians, bus drivers, parent liaisons, registrars, IT staff and the many others who may not always get recognition for their work.

Having high-caliber support staff is essential to the success of our schools and the well-being of our students. We want to recognize our staff members who exemplify excellence in their work — principals, teachers and now support staff as well. We are looking for you to nominate exemplary staff who are the heart of the day-to-day functioning of ACPS.

Beginning today, all are invited to nominate an Outstanding Support Employee of the Year for their commitment and dedication to our students and our school division.

Who Are Our Support Staff?

They are many of the people you see everyday who get your children to and from school safely, who ensure that they have healthy food options at meal times, who provide extra support to teachers in the classroom and who are there to answer your questions when you call or visit our schools.

They include office staff, cafeteria workers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, parent liaisons, registrars, IT staff and the many others who support our students and our schools. They are non-licensed staff and those who are not part of administration.

Not sure if the person you want to nominate qualifies? Email us at news@acps.k12.va.us.
