The Douglas MacArthur Elementary School community collected 27,256 pennies, 4,396 nickels, 7,124 dimes, 6,604 quarters, 13 half dollars, and 39 dollar coins, along with over $2,000 in online donations, raising $10,000 for Pennies for Patients.

Superintendent Crawley Announces He Will Be Leaving ACPS This Summer
Superintendent Alvin L. Crawley has announced that he will be leaving Alexandria City Public Schools this summer to take a position as a professor in the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University in the fall.
Dr. Crawley’s last day with ACPS will be July 28. The Alexandria City School Board will lay out the process for the search for a new superintendent within the next few weeks.

Jefferson-Houston School is now an authorized International Baccalaureate (I.B.) World School for the five-year Middle Years Programme (MYP). It became an authorized Primary Years Programme (PYP) school in 2015.
