As the cold weather settles in and we brace for winter weather over the next few months, we would like to remind you of how to stay informed when weather emergencies surface.
The impact of delays and closings may be different for school-based staff vs. Central Office and other staff. Visit our website for details on how each of these scenarios would impact staff.
Closings and Delayed Openings
All staff will get an email to their ACPS email to announce any weather-related emergencies. In addition. there are other ways you can make sure you stay informed.
The message will also be shared on:
- the ACPS website
- the ACPS Twitter and Facebook accounts
- the ACPS mobile app
- ACPS-TV Comcast channel 71
- the ACPS emergency hotline at 703-866-5300
- local radio and TV stations
- the City of Alexandria’s eNews
Early Dismissals
If schools will be dismissed early, we will distribute that announcement during the school day.
Opening as Regularly Scheduled
If schools are open as regularly scheduled, an announcement will not be made.
Weekend Closures
If ACPS closes any or all of its facilities over a weekend, activities and events at those facilities may also be canceled or rescheduled. Before heading out, check the ACPS website.
