May 2 marks that start of National Teacher Appreciation Week and we would like our teachers to know just how much they are valued by our school community for their great work throughout the year.
Superintendent Alvin L. Crawley has sent this own ‘thank you’ to applaud our teachers for the exceptional work they do to enrich the lives of our students.
Dear ACPS Family,
I want to take this opportunity during National Teacher Appreciation Week to express my deep gratitude to the more than 1,415 teachers who, every day, shape the future of our students. As we work to fulfill our 2020 Strategic Plan mission of ensuring that Every Student Succeeds, I am convinced that one of the most important variables in student achievement is the classroom teacher. Each day, across the school division, our dedicated and committed ACPS teachers welcome 14,670 students into their classrooms, and work tirelessly to meet each student’s unique academic, emotional and social needs. They serve as mentors, coaches and champions inside and outside the school house. For many, their advocacy and support of families often extends well beyond the work day and are not defined by the school calendar. As we move forward in our goal of becoming an excellent and high performing school division, the ability to continue recruiting and retaining great teachers will be front and center.
During this 2016 National Teacher Appreciation Week, please join me in recognizing our outstanding Alexandria City Public Schools teachers!
Sincerely,
We are encouraging our community to thank our teachers as well. You, too, can recognize a great teacher on our ACPS Twitter and Facebook pages using the hashtag #ThxACPSTeachers so we can help spread the word.
The ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan outlines a specific goal that calls for an exemplary staff. ACPS pledges to recruit, develop, support and retain a staff that meets the needs of every student.
