2018 Teaching and Learning Unconference
Friday, August 10
8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
What is an Unconference?
An unconference is an unconventional conference model in which participants identify topics, break into smaller groups, and discuss ideas, issues, strategies and resources in an informal and community-driven forum.
An unconference breaks out of traditional silos and allows participants to direct their own learning.
Who Should Attend?
- Teachers
- Principals
- Assistant Principals
- Paraprofessionals
- Technology Integration Specialists
All instructional staff members are welcome to attend!
How Does It Work?
You decide the topics, guide the discussion and share your own expertise while learning with and from others. Participants are encouraged to stay for as much or as little of the sessions as they want and join others that interest them. It’s all up to you.
What Are Some of the Possible Discussion Topics?
- Incorporating Canvas into everyday instruction
- Writing across the content areas
- Aligning classroom instruction to the ACPS Strategic Plan
- Best practices for meeting the needs of diverse learners
- Strategies for differentiation and engagement
- Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for a constantly changing classroom

These are potential topics. It’s really up to you!
