The start of a new school year is a great time to adopt new healthy habits. Here’s a free and convenient one to consider.
Three workout sessions will be offered at three ACPS sites, thanks to barre3 in Old Town. barre3 offers heart-pumping workouts that strengthen and tone your body. The sessions are meant for everyone and you can do as little or as much as you like.
Please bring water and a yoga mat, if possible, and wear loose, comfortable clothing.
All sessions are free, open to all ACPS employees. Choose the locations and sessions that work for you:
Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School Gym (Lower Level)
Tuesdays 4 to 5 p.m.

If yoga is not your thing, there is always the gym!
ACPS employees can enjoy free use of all gyms at the recreation centers in the City of Alexandria, including the pool at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center. Just show your badge when you sign in at the front desk. View a list of all Alexandria the recreational centers.
If you work at Central Office full-time and have a building fob, you are eligible to use the gym located in the courtyard directly across from Sofia’s cafe. The gym is open 24 hours a day. Please see Telly Byrd to request an application for access using your ACPS fob.
Health and wellness are part of the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan. Through the plan, ACPS pledges to promote efforts to enable students to be healthy and ready to learn. And, healthy staff members are great examples for their students.
