On Thursday, the Alexandria City School Board appointed Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr., a graduate of T.C. Williams High School, as Superintendent of ACPS.
Dr. Hutchings, formerly the director of pre-K-12 initiatives with ACPS, will return in early July to take up his new role.
Dr. Hutchings shared the reasons why he’s so excited to return to ACPS and the Alexandria community in a video message earlier this week.
“I am honored to return to my hometown and to advocate for and encourage the next generation of leaders. ACPS is a special place for me because it’s where my education and lifelong passion for it began. ACPS is well on its way to attaining the ACPS 2020 goals. I look forward to collaborating with the School Board and community to continue on the path to ensuring that every student succeeds,” said Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings Jr., new Superintendent.
You can let him know how excited we are to have him back by sending him welcome messages via the ACPS Facebook page, on Twitter @ACPSk12 or via the feedback button on the website.
