Congratulations to Jasmine Wood, school nurse at Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy, who has received the Alumni Leadership Award from the Johnson & Johnson School Health Leadership Program at the National Association of School Nurses Conference.
Wood was honored with the award for her work in mentoring that she provided to emerging leaders in nursing and for her overall leadership. Wood completed the leadership program in 2014 and was asked to return in 2015 and 2016 to mentor new groups going through the program.
Wood has presented at conferences both at the state and national levels. At ACPS she advises nurses on using social media to promote health within ACPS and she is developing strategies to encourage resilience in our students. As a result of her participation in the leadership program, she received a grant to implement a new employee wellness policy and program for ACPS.
Jasmine’s thoughtful leadership is evident in her work as a mentor, presenter and advocate on innovative ways to promote health and wellness within ACPS. Her work is having a positive impact every day on our students and staff,” said ACPS Health Services Coordinator Barbara Nowak.
Wood has been a nurse at Lyles-Crouch since August 2012. She has been a registered nurse for 16 years. Prior to joining ACPS, her nursing experience included orthopedics, medical/surgical, neurosurgical and occupational health.
Nursing is my passion. I love what I do, I love helping people, but most of all, I love being a school nurse. As a school nurse, I don’t only focus on the health of one child, I work every day to help improve the health of our students, our staff, and our community,” said Wood.
This award exemplifies ACPS 2020 Goal 3: An Exemplary Staff and Goal 5: Health and Wellness.
