At its meeting on March 22, the School Board adopted a new policy and regulations that allow ACPS employees to telework in limited circumstances.
ACPS recognizes that in certain limited circumstances, it is practical and efficient to allow authorized employees to work from an alternate location. The new policy is designed to ensure that the goals and mission of ACPS are accomplished in a productive, thoughtful and efficient manner, without negatively impacting the school division.
Authorization to telework is at the discretion of an employees’s supervisor, with notice provided to the Department of Human Resources and the appropriate Senior Leadership Team member. Requests to telework for longer than two consecutive pay periods must be approved by the Department of Human Resources.
The new Telework Regulations define:
- Potential telework scenarios
- Who is eligible to telework
- What is considered an acceptable alternate work location
- Circumstances that prohibit teleworking
- Circumstances that may warrant teleworking by eligible employees
- Guidelines for telework
- Procedures for requesting the opportunity to telework
