Canvas for Elective Teachers
How can teachers effectively use the Canvas learning management system to improve communication with parents and students? In this class especially for elective teachers will cover how to create pages, post announcements, post assignments and create and use modules. The elective teachers teach six periods a day and therefore miss training opportunities available to other classroom teachers. #15351
Designing and Implementing Equity Conversations
What do members of the equity team need to know and be able to do in order to design and implement professional development that addresses disparities in achievement? Participants will work individually or in teams to create a workshop that will be offered through PLMS, conduct all or a portion of the workshop and receive immediate feedback on the delivery of the workshop. Upon completion of each offering, participants will meet to edit and revise the process. #15348
Family Life Education Teacher Certification Course: Human Sexuality
Are you interested in gaining useful skills and content knowledge that will help you effectively teach the Family Life Education (FLE) curriculum? Teachers who will be delivering FLE content to students are required to take the Human Sexuality for Educators course. It takes a closer look at FLE materials and resources at the teacher’s disposal with a goal of building participant confidence and knowledge-base when delivering this sensitive but meaningful content. It will be taught by the Human Growth and Development Department Chair, Stephanie Ghent, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the subject. #14239
Developing Social-Communication Skills for Students with Autism: A Professional Learning Community
What techniques or interventions can staff use to support the social and emotion regulation skill development of students with Autism? Join us to learn how to teach social communication and self-management skills to students with Autism and other disorders. Activities will demonstrate how to embed practice opportunities across the school day. The focus will be on practical strategies that can be implemented in the classroom across content areas and to improve the collaborative learning skills of students with autism or social communication disorders. #15331
