Teachers are invited to take advantage of a five-day professional learning adventure on the Chesapeake Bay or one of its tributaries this summer.
Specifically for ACPS Teachers:
Alexandria City Public Schools & Earth Force Engaging Students in Potomac River Environmental Stewardship
June 24-28
Open to all Alexandria teachers, with a preference for grades 6-12.
Teachers will explore the Potomac River Watershed around the D.C. metro area and investigate some of the threats to our waterways along methods to help mitigate problems in our watershed.
Digging deeper into the state of our watershed and network with area environmental professionals, participants will connect these topics and techniques back to the standards of learning in Virginia classrooms.
Teachers will be trained in the Earth Force six-step process to engage students in environmental stewardship projects. The training is meant to provide the foundation for transforming learning into real and meaningful experiences for students by connecting learning to their community.
There is no cost to participants. Virginia teachers are eligible for 45 continuing certification credit hours/points for successful completion of the course.
