ACPS recently announced that Canvas, a modern and innovative learning management system (LMS), will replace Blackboard beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. Teachers can now log into Canvas and begin exploring this new tool.
Getting Started
Every teacher has a “sandbox” course which can be used to start learning how the system works. Review our getting started information and dive in!
Self-Guided Training
Canvas provides several ways for teachers to learn at their own pace at times that best fit their schedule, including video tutorials, online documentation, and interactive webinars. Access the self-guided training.
In-Person Training
Numerous opportunities will be available for teachers to attend in-person Canvas training both over the summer and throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Search courses using keyword “Canvas” in PLMS to register.
Scheduled summer training dates include:
- July 12-13, 2017 (Teachers)
- July 26-27, 2017 (Teachers)
- August 16, 2017 (Teachers)
- August 17-18, 2017 (Administrators)
- August 17-18, 2017 (Informational overview for teachers attending the Blended Learning Camp)
Always-Available Support
ACPS has purchased the Tier I support package from Canvas. This means that any ACPS employee can contact Canvas support directly via phone, online chat or email at any time for assistance—24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year!
