Please welcome James Bermudez, a bi-lingual teacher who has previously taught in Egypt and Mexico, who starts as the new assistant principal at Mount Vernon Community School this week.
Bermudez, originally from Connecticut, comes to Mount Vernon Community School with 19 years of teaching experience.
Bermudez taught at the American School of Tampico, in Tampico, Mexico and then became an educator at the MISR Language School in Cairo, Egypt, right next to the Pyramids.
After returning to the United States, Bermudez enrolled at George Mason University to earn his Master’s degree in Public Policy, while teaching at Glasgow Middle School in Fairfax County.
After a string of roles in educational leadership, Bermudez became an intern administrator at Mount Vernon High School and later at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
“I am excited to announce that we have finally found a new assistant principal. We have been interviewing for her replacement for months and I would like to express my gratitude to Ginja for hanging in there with MVCS while we found her replacement,” said MVCS Principal Peter Balas.
Bermudez replaces Ginja Canton who has accepted a job at the Title One office in Alexandria City Public Schools.
