As the cold weather settles in and we brace for winter weather, we would like to remind you how to stay informed about school closings or delayed openings.
The impact of delays and closings may be different for school-based staff vs. Central Office and other staff. Visit our website for details on how each of these scenarios would impact staff.
Closings and Delayed Openings
If schools are to be closed or have a delayed opening, we will begin distributing that message as early as possible. We aim to have the message out as close to 5 a.m. as we can, but this is dependent on may complicated factors. Phone calls will NOT be made.
Please note that the Office of Communications has no means by which to text all ACPS staff. To receive weather alerts via text, ACPS staff members need to subscribe to City of Alexandria eNews
