Thursday’s School Board meeting was full of updates on important projects that will have a huge impact on students in the long term. These included an update on The High School Project, the action plan connected to the Students with Disabilities Evaluation, and the Program of Studies outlining course offerings for next school year. On top of this, we heard from you about what you would like to see included in the Capital Improvement Program Budget for FY2020-29.

Public Hearing on the FY2020-29 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget
You asked and the School Board listened. They will now review these requests as part of their discussions on the CIP.
Students with Disabilities (SWD) Evaluation Draft Action Plan
The School Board heard about the community engagement process around the Students with Disabilities (SWD) draft action plan and the support of principals for the plan. The survey around the action plan will be open until January 18. You can take the survey online.

The High School Project Update
Chief Operating Officer Mignon Anthony gave an update about The High School Project, which was followed by a discussion by the School Board. The Board asked for more information on costs and potential spaces before making a decision.

2019-20 Academic Calendars
The School Board had a long discussion on the calendar for next school year and requested a calendar that included Veterans Day as a school day. This will be discussed again at the next Board meeting.

The School Board reviewed the proposed Program of Studies course catalog for next school year and requested an assessment of possible inclusion of Fire Department Training. This will be discussed again at the next Board meeting.
