James (Jamie) Bartlett has been named Assistant Director of Health, Safety and Risk Management. Bartlett, who will oversee emergencies response as well as health and safety, served as the interim assistant director of Health, Safety and Risk Management since February 2016.
Barlett joined ACPS in November 2014 as the security and emergency management coordinator where he oversaw a complete reorganization of school security officers, replacement of all walkie-talkie’s in the elementary schools and various other projects.
Prior to joining ACPS, Barlett was a member of the Alexandria Police Department where he served in the K-9 Unit, Vice/Narcotics Section, Patrol Division, Traffic Division, Motor Squad, Public Information Office and Special Operations Division. He progressed to the rank of captain before retiring in 2014.
“Jamie brings a great deal to the position with his public service background as an Alexandria police officer and his recent experience with ACPS, most recently as the interim assistant director of health, safety and risk management. We are pleased to have him on board,” said Richard Jackson, director of educational facilities for ACPS.
