ACPS welcomed new Chief of Human Resources Joseph Makolandra last week.
“I am pleased to announce that we have selected a new Chief of Human Resources, Mr. Joseph Makolandra. Mr. Makolandra is the former head of Human Resources in Montgomery County, Virginia. In addition to having extensive experience in Human Resources, Mr. Makolandra has served as a teacher and principal. We look forward to his leadership in ACPS,” said Superintendent Dr. Alivn L. Crawley.
As Chief of Human Resources, Makolandra has overall responsibility for all aspects of the human resources function in ACPS. Makolandra will establish and articulate the vision of the human resources department with respect to its role in achieving the goals laid out in the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan.
Makolandra believes that highly effective teachers and administrators are the core of the organization and he is eager to work in collaboration with the Superintendent’s leadership team and with staff throughout the division.
“I am impressed with the level of professionalism at all levels of the school division and I am thankful for the warm welcome I have received. I look forward to working with the employees that create such a high-achieving and diverse school division,” said Makolandra.
One of Makolandra’s goals is to set up a fantasy football league for staff in Central Office. Don’t forget to let him know who your favorite team is when you meet him in the elevator!
