ACPS has received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2015.
The award represents a significant achievement by ACPS for its commitment to financial accountability and transparency, as outlined in the ACPS 2020 strategic Plan.
“The Financial Services Department is honored to have received this award which reflects our dedication and commitment to excellence for ACPS and the Alexandria community. Everyone works very hard to ensure our resources are managed with integrity and that our financial statements and business practices comply with mandated accounting standards,” said Stacey Johnson, Chief Financial Officer.
One of the six goals of the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan focuses on Effective and Efficient Operations. The goal ensures ACPS handles its business operations with diligent care and the highest ethical standards in order to provide proper stewardship and a full accounting of our resources. Having a strategic goal such as Effective and Efficient Operations in the 2020 plan demonstrates the importance of this work for all ACPS staff.
The ASBO International awards, founded in 1910, is a professional organization of 5,000 members that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth and the effective use of education resources.
The award recognizes ACPS for having met or exceeded the program’s high standards for financial reporting and accountability.
