If you are ready to take your teaching to the next level, you may be interested in National Board Certification. The deadline for applying for ACPS support for National Board Certification is 4 p.m. on April 21, 2022.
National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) have earned the teaching profession’s highest honor. The certification process identifies accomplished teachers through a rigorous program that includes four components: one exam and three portfolio submissions. Through NBCT, dedicated teachers demonstrate their commitment to teaching and maintaining the profession’s highest standards.
ACPS supports a two-year submission timeframe during which teachers participate in monthly meetings, are part of a professional learning community and receive support on the technical aspects of the process. ACPS also funds most of the $2,050 cost for the majority of selected candidates.
The benefits of National Board Certification include:
- Improves student achievement and learning.
- Provides an opportunity for teachers to grow and challenge themselves.
- Recognizes accomplished teachers.
- Can lead to increased salary and leadership opportunities.
