One sure way to shake off the post-winter chill is to focus on summer and the many great summer opportunities available to our students.
ACPS Summer Offerings
If you have a rising kindergartener or middle school student, be sure to sign up for prep programs in August.
If you have rising and current middle schoolers, check out the free music and drama camps!
If you have a high schooler who needs to recover credits or take an online course, check out our options for summer school and online learning.
Summer Fun Through the City of Alexandria
Families can also register for fun camps through the City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities. Participants may register online or in-person at the Lee Center Registration & Reservation Office, 1108 Jefferson Street.
The 2018 Summer of Smiles Summer Camps Guide (PDF) is available online and free printed brochures are available at City Hall, recreation centers, and public libraries located throughout the City. The guide contains details about a variety of camps available to youth ages 2-17, including sports, dance, creative arts, computer, chess, enrichment, nature, adventure, Out of School Time (residents only) and classic camps.
PTA Summer Camp Directory
Did you miss the Alexandria PTA Council’s Summer Camp Fair? No worries. You can view a list of summer camps available throughout the city in their summer camp directory (PDF).
Make a Splash at Family Splash Nights
Although it’s still too chilly to head to the beach, kids can still enjoy the water at an upcoming Family Fun Night of swimming and fun for all ages. The whole family can enjoy swimming, beach ball and aqua basketball, and a floating obstacle course. Pool safety tips and swimming skills assessments for youth are also offered. Light refreshments will be served. Each event features a different ACPS school but all are welcome to attend. The cost of admission to each event is $4 per person.

- Friday, May 18, 6–9 p.m. – Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy and Cora Kelly School
