Nominate Outstanding Specialized Instruction Educators for Anne Lipnick Award

Do you know an ACPS staff member who has made a significant difference in the education of a child receiving special education services? If so, nominate them for one of three Anne Lipnick Awards for Specialized Instruction.

The awards acknowledge and honor the work of outstanding (1) special educators and related service providers, (2) general education teachers and (3) paraprofessionals whose classroom and therapeutic practices exemplify excellence in specialized instruction in the spirit of true inclusion.

Who can be nominated?

  • Special education instructors or related service providers who show extraordinary abilities in developing instructional or social practices that promote achievement and participation for students receiving special education services
  • Outstanding general education teachers who demonstrate exemplary inclusionary practices
  • Paraprofessionals who consistently go above and beyond in their engagements with special education students

Nominees must be teachers, related service providers (e.g. speech, language, occupational or physical therapists, etc.), or paraprofessionals serving kindergarten through grade 12, who have worked in the Alexandria City Public Schools for a minimum of one year.

Who can submit nominations?

Parents, colleagues and administrators within ACPS can submit nominations. Nominators should only submit one nomination per nominee. Educators can be nominated by more than one person.

When are nominations due?

Nominations must be submitted online by Friday, April 27, 2018.
