Reminder: Redistricting Notice of Intent Form Due Before January 15

Read redistricting information in Spanish, Amarhic or Arabic on our website.

In early December, individualized letters were mailed to the families who will be affected by the new elementary school boundaries that will go into effect in fall 2018. The letters listed the family’s new school and addressed potential exemptions based on the redistricting policy and regulation around phasing-in, siblings and programmatic transfers (Policy JCE and Regulation JCE-R).

Those who received a letter, and will be affected by redistricting, are required to submit a Notice of Intent form before January 15 based on the options detailed in their letter.

If you will be affected by the new school boundaries, you must return your Notice of Intent before January 15. A blank version of the form can be downloaded from our website if needed.

To find out if your student is impacted by the redistricting policy changes, review the chart below. An interactive map of the new school boundaries is available at http://www.croppermap.com/alexandria.

If you believe that your family will be impacted by the new school boundaries and you have not received a letter, please contact the Department of Student Services at student_services@acps.k12.va.us or call 703-619-8034.

In the spring, a transition plan will be presented to the School Board that will guide the successful transition of impacted students and families leading into the 2018-19 school year. In the coming months and throughout next school year, a myriad of transition activities including open houses and “Meet the Principal” nights.
