The School Board approved the academic calendars for the 2017-18 school year at their December 15 meeting. Items to note include:
- 183 instructional days for students; 196 contract days for teachers
- The first day of school for students is September 5 for the traditional calendar and August 3 for modified calendar
- June 20 is last day for students on both calendars
- The first 3 snow days will not be made up; 3 additional days, if needed, are identified in the calendars
- Snow make-up days are not scheduled on professional development days
- Wednesday before Thanksgiving remains a holiday
- Winter break is eight days
- An early release day for high school was added on October 11 for SAT administration
- A professional development day has been added
- Designated division-wide and school-based professional development days have been added
