Parents and guardians play a critical role in a child’s education. When there is a strong relationship between the family and school, students have better academic performance, fewer behavioral problems and are more likely to complete high school than students whose parents or guardians are not involved in their education.
ACPS values family engagement—and we understand the challenges that many parents and guardians face in navigating the school system and getting involved. To better support our families, our Parent Liaisons offer opportunities to foster trusting relationships, improve communication and help build cooperative working relationships between the home and school.
Parent Liaisons can:
- Help you to understand school policies, student report cards or other topics regarding your child’s education
- Address any issues and concerns you may have at the school
- Link you with and facilitate collaboration with school staff
- Connect you with community resources
