Read with Alexandria Library’s Summer Reading Programs

One of the best ways for students to prevent summer learning loss is to read books throughout the summer. The key to getting students hooked on summer reading is to inspire them to connect with books that matter to them. Beginning June 27, the Alexandria Library is offering a free online program to ACPS students that provides customized reading lists throughout the summer.

The program suggests that rising K-5th grade students read 10 books of their choice this summer. Students can log their book titles using the Alexandria Library SummerQuest online log or a separate recording form. Book logs may be turned in at any public library branch between July 25 and September 10.

Rising 6th- through 8th-grade students should complete the 2016 Middle School Summer Reading Project. They can also log their book titles using the Alexandria Library SummerQuest online log.

Rising 9th- through 12-grade students should read four books of choice and participate in the Teen SummerQuest Read-for-the-Win Program.

Starting July 10, Alexandria libraries will be open on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
