Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is excited to publish the latest episode of the “Unapologetic Talk with the Supe” podcast. In this month’s episode, ACPS Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. sits down with co-founder and Executive Officer of Stand for Children Jonah Edelman. Stand for Children helps children at the bottom of the economic ladder rise up through effective dropout prevention strategies, expanded career technical education and improved college preparation and post-secondary guidance. Edelman’s mission is to increase access to quality early childhood education, improve literacy instruction and interventions, increase funding equity and adequacy and improve school quality in communities with a concentration of chronically low performing schools.

Dr. Hutchings speaks with Edelman about how he began his mission during college when he taught a 6-year-old bilingual child to read, how he founded a mentorship program for middle school students and more on this month’s episode.

Each month, the superintendent engages with leading advocates for equity as they unpack the challenges and opportunities which will guide us towards an antiracist society and racial equity in education. Tune in on the Superintendent’s Podcast webpage or SoundCloud and join the conversation on social media using the hashtags #UnapologeticTalkWithTheSupe, #antiracism and #ACPS.
