Two T.C. Williams High School orchestra students have won places in the All Virginia Orchestra after tough state-wide auditions last weekend.
Junior, Will Milone, and sophomore, Betelihem Hadgu, will participate in the State Orchestra event at George Mason University in early April.
Milone is one of 44 violins and Hadgu is one of 16 violists from across the state to be selected for the prestigious honor. No T.C. Williams students won places in the State Band.
Milone is the is the concertmaster in the T.C. Williams High School Chamber Orchestra and is a concertmaster in the Washington Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. Hadguis the principal violist in the T.C. Williams Chamber Orchestra and member of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
A total of 221 strings auditioned for the State Orchestra, including 115 violinists and 35 violists.
Participation in the All Virginia Orchestra and Band represents a significant accomplishment. In order to audition at the state level, students must first audition for and earn a position in the Senior Regional Orchestra. The Senior Regional Orchestra is made up of players from Districts 10, 11 and 12, which represents 30 high schools from the Cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, and Fairfax and Arlington Counties.
Congratulations Will and Betelihem! Listen to our star musicians play.
