On Thursday, the School Board received presentations on the Family Engagement Evaluation, quarterly facility updates and The High School Project. The Board also approved the Operating Budget.

The Family Engagement Evaluation
The Family Engagement evaluation looked at how we engage our families across ACPS. Family engagement is particularly important in ensuring success for students so that they can continue their learning at home. The team carried out interviews, focus groups and sent out secret shoppers to test how we operate. The evaluators had two recommendations around training staff in family engagement across the division and also making better use of the platforms that connect families to their child’s academic progress or school.

Capital Improvement Program Budget Quarterly Reports
The Q2 Quarterly Report contains a summary of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) work that took place during the second quarter of FY2020 (October 1, 2019-December 31, 2019).

Upcoming Summer Projects
Each summer, ACPS uses the summer break to carry out repairs and updates to our buildings. This upcoming summer is no different. Eleven of our schools will be closed over the summer while work is carried out.
The High School Project
The High School Project team shared what they learned from a trip to tour the Academies of Loudoun: a high school that uses a model that ACPS may consider for our Connected High School Network in the future.
The Budget
Finally, City Manager Mark Jinks visited the ACPS Central Office to personally present to the School Board an overview of his budget presentation that he gave in City Hall on Tuesday, February 18.
