ACPS has launched a new COVID-19 dashboard that will be updated in real-time as cases and close-contacts are identified.

Participating in It’s Academic, four members of the Alexandria City High School Scholastic Bowl Team were victorious in the first round of the high school competition that aired on NBC4 on Jan. 22.

Through the Posse Foundation, three Alexandria City High School students will receive full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities.

Additional recognition of academic excellence goes to three Alexandria City High School students who have been selected in the College Board’s National Recognition Program.

At the School Board meeting scheduled for Thurs., Feb. 3, 2022, the agenda includes a COVID-19 update.

ACPS conducts parent-teacher conferences twice each calendar school year to provide opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss students’ social, emotional, and academic progress. Schools following the traditional academic calendar will hold Winter 2022 Parent-Teacher Conferences on Feb. 2-3.

ACPS Superintendent Dr. Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. shares information with the ACPS community in his first “Supe’s Spotlight” video message of 2022. 

ACPS presented VIP Awards in the category of Licensed Specialists in our school division this month. Four employees who exhibit “Vision, Integrity and Passion” have been selected from the nominations submitted in this category.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been updating its COVID-19 guidance over the past month, and ACPS has made these updates to the information resources that families and staff can access on the ACPS Health & Safety Guidelines web page

Caitlin Feehely, a junior at Alexandria City High School, and Ashly Isabel Luna Jimenez, a kindergarten student from William Ramsay Elementary School, have been selected as the 2021 Red Ribbon Week Poster Contest ACPS elementary and high school winners.

As part of its meeting on Thurs., Jan. 20, the School Board hosted a public hearing on the Combined Funds Fiscal Year 2023 budget. Following the meeting, the Board transitioned to a Work Session on the FY 2023 budget.

The ACPS community benefits year-round from the leadership of our school principals, and it is a pleasure to thank and highlight them during Virginia School Principal Appreciation Week, Jan. 8-14.

In response to the current increase in cases of COVID-19 in our area, ACPS may at times need to modify our contact tracing procedures to ensure timely communication of a potential exposure to students in a classroom.

The School Board will host a public hearing on the Combined Funds Fiscal Year 2023 budget on Thurs., Jan. 20, at its Board meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m., before transitioning to a Work Session on the FY 2023 budget at 7 p.m.
