COVID-19 Contact Tracing & Safety Measures in Our Schools
In response to the current increase in cases of COVID-19 in our area, ACPS may at times need to modify our contact tracing procedures to ensure timely communication of a potential exposure to students in a classroom.
School Board Public Hearing on Combined Funds FY 2023 Budget
The School Board will host a public hearing on the Combined Funds Fiscal Year 2023 budget on Thurs., Jan. 20, at its Board meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m., before transitioning to a Work Session on the FY 2023 budget at 7 p.m.

ACPS Winter Weather Communications
The safety of our students and staff is our number one priority when considering school closures during a winter weather situation. We take multiple factors into consideration, including regional closures, staffing, operations, and inclement weather.

New Members Inducted to the ACPS School Board
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) welcomed new members to the Alexandria City School Board during a virtual induction ceremony on Jan. 4, 2022. The nine 2022-25 School Board members were elected in November 2021 and were sworn in to assume their responsibilities to adopt policy for the daily operation of schools and ensure that school laws are properly explained, enforced, and observed.

January Partner & Volunteer Highlight: PTAC
The PTA Council (PTAC) represents the PTAs of ACPS schools and is a valued partner in our school division. The parent-teacher organization works with the superintendent and School Board members in serving ACPS students and families. The school PTAs that comprise PTAC are a way for ACPS families to get involved and help further students’ educational success.

FDA & CDC Approve Boosters for Ages 12-15
As part of a broader effort to expand protection against the COVID-19 virus, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized booster shots on Jan. 3, 2022 for the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine for children aged 12 to 15.
ACHS Librarian Selected as 2022 AASL Emerging Leader
Alexandria City High School (ACHS) Librarian Laurel Taylor has been selected as one of two participants sponsored by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) in the American Library Association’s (ALA) 2022 Emerging Leaders program.
